Overnight.

Why is it that kids seem to grow up overnight? Madeline learns so quickly and sometimes I think she learns in her sleep. Overnight she went from speaking one word "sentences" to complete long sentences. Here's an example: 2 weeks ago she would just say "happy" meaning Happy Birthday. Last week she was saying "Happy Birthday". By the time her birthday rolled around she was saying "Happy Birthday Madeline", and "happy birthday to me"

I also can't believe her memory. I wish I still had her memory. She has never really named her animals... until now. A few weeks ago I was being silly and named on of her puppies "Bobo". We needed a way to distinguish between them. I thought nothing of it. About a week ago she starts calling him "Bobo". She remembered his name from the one or two times I called him that. She is not into naming all of her animals. She even named her Mr. and Mrs. Potato heads yesterday. They are now called "salt" and "pepper" a la Blue's Clues. So everything has a name these days.

Madeline is also starting to use pro nouns correctly. She uses you, me, us, them, ect. She is very curious and always asks, "What are you doing, mama?" or "what is he doing?".

She counts from 1 to 13 pretty consistently and is even working on her alphabet. For some reason she just doesn't like to learn the letters but is willing to try now at least.

Tomorrow is her 2 year check up. I'm interested in seeing how she's doing. I think she's about 36 inches and 28 pounds. We shall see tomorrow.

2nd Birthday Party

I still have 20 hours and 15 minutes before Madeline is officially 2 (she was born at 5:15 pm on March 29th) but we had her party today so I'll post pictures. Just know I am holding on to every last second of my 1 year old!

Here are the decorations:

Eric made up a little Blue's Clue's game for her. The idea was for her to figure out that we were having cake. Well she was a bit shy because everyone had just arrived and she had just woken up but she did ok. She found all the clue's but didn't figure out that we were having cake.

Here she is right after nap:

Present time:

She got a lot but thankfully not quite as much as last year. Still way too much for 1 little girl.

She was so cute. After each present she had to go show Grandma.

Presents from Auntie Kim and Uncle Chris. I video taped it for them since they weren't able to be here. I kept asking Madeline to look at the camera and say "thank you auntie Kim" but she kept looking back at Auntie Kim's picture. I tries about 5 times with no luck. haha!

Tea set from Nana and Papa (she got a bunch of other things from them but I'll spare all of you the hours it would take to look at everything)

Too bad the tea set is porcelain so it will have to be put away for a couple of years. It is really cute though! She also got that table and chair set for her dolls. It's obviously very sturdy since she was able to sit in it.

Well that's it. Eric and I saved a couple of presents to give her on her actual birthday tomorrow. I'm a bit sad that she's 2 already but very proud of what a smart, polite, generous, beautiful little girl she is!
